With more than two and a half million visitors per year and a particularly dense historic center, parking in Antibes can sometimes be a challenge, especially between June and September. Between on-street parking, underground car parks in the city center, and resident-only zones, the city has set up a fairly comprehensive system, but it needs to be properly understood to avoid unpleasant surprises, whether that means a steep post-parking fine or a full car park by 10 a.m. in peak season.

This guide reviews all the parking options available in Antibes, their rates, and the best ways to avoid wasting time driving around looking for a space.<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div>\n\n\n\n

On-street parking<\/strong><\/strong><\/strong><\/h2><\/div>

The city of Antibes offers around 1,800 free on-street parking spaces, spread across several areas and managed through parking meters equipped with alphanumeric keypads. In practice, you simply enter your license plate number to get one hour of free parking per day and per vehicle. After that, rates rise quickly, with 15 minutes costing up to \u20ac12 after a certain threshold, a deliberately discouraging rate designed to encourage turnover in city-center spaces. On-street parking becomes free again every day between 12 p.m. and 2 p.m., as well as from 6 p.m. to 9 a.m. the following morning. It is also completely free on Saturdays, Sundays, and public holidays, a schedule worth keeping in mind if you plan to make several trips during the day.

Some areas of the city operate as blue zones, meaning parking is free but limited in time, usually to one or two hours, provided that a parking disc set to the arrival time is displayed. This disc, available free of charge from many local shops or from the town hall, must be clearly visible behind the windshield to avoid a fine. If the authorized parking time is exceeded, whether in a blue zone or in a standard paid parking area, the post-parking charge is \u20ac15 and gives you around two hours and fifteen minutes of additional parking, replacing the former fixed fine of \u20ac17. <\/p><\/div><\/div>\n\n\n\n

Underground car parks in the city center<\/strong><\/strong><\/strong><\/h2><\/div>

For longer or more secure parking, Antibes has around ten underground car parks managed by the city or by operators such as Q-Park and Effia, with hourly rates ranging from \u20ac1.50 to \u20ac2.50 depending on the location. The Vauban car park, on Avenue de Verdun, remains the largest, with around 1,000 spaces, and is among the cheapest in the city center, along with the Mass\u00e9na car park. By contrast, the Port car park, closest to the quays and Port Vauban, charges the highest rate in the city, a difference mainly due to its immediate proximity to the most sought-after areas. The Poste and Fr\u00e8res Oliviers car parks, managed by Q-Park, as well as the Pr\u00e9-aux-P\u00eacheurs car park at the entrance to Old Antibes, complete the underground parking offer with several hundred spaces each, a real advantage for visiting the old town on foot afterward, as driving inside it is, in any case, almost impossible. Peripheral car parks and combined solutions<\/strong><\/strong><\/strong><\/h2><\/div>

To avoid the crowds in the city center during peak season, several car parks located slightly further out offer better availability, often at more attractive rates. The Fort Carr\u00e9 car park, with 150 spaces, and the Azurarena<\/a> car park, with nearly 570 spaces, make it easier to park before reaching the center on foot or by bus. This is one of the most effective habits to adopt in summer: park a little further away, then complete the journey using the Antibes bus network<\/a>, whose routes serve most of these peripheral car parks and run into the heart of the city. Another option to avoid the parking issue altogether is to leave your car at the station car park, then take a TER<\/a> regional train if you are heading to Nice, Cannes, or another town along the coast. This lets you leave your vehicle for the whole day without having to worry about city-center parking meters. <\/p><\/div><\/div><\/div>\n\n\n\n

Seasonal parking near the beaches<\/strong><\/strong><\/strong><\/h2><\/div>

The car parks closest to the coast, such as those at Ponteil, Salis, or Palmiers in Juan-les-Pins, operate under a specific system: they are free for much of the year but become paid from June 1 to September 30, when demand naturally increases with the summer crowds on the beaches. These car parks are often full by mid-morning in peak season, which leads many visitors to arrive before 9:30 a.m. or use public transport for the day instead. For residents or people who park regularly in the city, the town hall offers monthly or quarterly parking permits, with rates starting at around \u20ac20 per month depending on the chosen category. Payment can be made directly at parking meters or through the dedicated parking mobile app. These permits allow on-street parking at a much lower rate than occasional parking, a significant advantage for anyone who works or lives in the city center without a private parking space. Private platforms such as Yespark or Zenpark also complement the municipal offer by providing parking spaces for rent in private car parks or residential buildings, with no commitment and sometimes with several free trial days, making them an interesting option for longer-term parking outside the standard parking meter system. During the summer season, it is best to plan ahead: arriving before 9 a.m. or after 5 p.m. remains the best strategy for finding a space in the most central car parks or those closest to the beaches. If you are staying outside the city or coming for a day trip, taking the train from Nice or Cannes removes the parking issue altogether, as does booking a private driver in Antibes<\/a> for direct drop-off at your accommodation or meeting point, which is especially useful during events when parking in the city center becomes almost impossible.
